Jose Molina went yard and had 2 RBI and Homer Bailey pitched a complete game
as the NEWARK EAGLES defeated the WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 9 to 2 at Minute
Maid Park.
 
NEWARK promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runs using
2 hits.  Maicer Izturis led off and started the rally when he doubled.
Desmond Jennings stepped up to the plate and he tripled.  Justin Upton then
was hit by a pitch.  Dan Uggla was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.
Adam Jones came to the plate and hit a deep fly.  NEWARK had 13 hits for the
afternoon.  
 
Bailey(1-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Jason
Vargas(1-1) was hit with the loss.  He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 9
hits and 1 walk.

In the 5th inning NEWARK scored 3 runs with the help of 5 hits.  Shelley
Duncan opened up the inning nicely when he ripped a base-hit.  Carlos Ruiz
stepped up to the plate and he lined a single.  Jonathan Herrera then stroked
a single to load the bases.  After an out was recorded, Desmond Jennings came
to bat and ripped a single.  Upton came up to bat and ripped a base-knock.
Dan Uggla dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.  Adam Jones next
to the plate and he drew a walk to load the bases.  NEWARK had a total of 9
hits for the game.  
 
Lee(1-0) allowed 1 run on the game. Felix Hernandez(1-3) was the loser.  He
struck out 12 batters in 9 innings despite losing the game.  
 
'He had his 'A' game today,' HOWARD BROVER said of Lee.  'Very impressive
performance.'

Maicer Izturis was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a
fine day at their team's expense.  He blasted a two-run home run in the 3rd
inning and doubled which was good for two runs in the 4th inning.  NEWARK won
despite being out-hit by WISCONSIN 13 hits to 7.  
 
Roy Halladay(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Scott Downs got the save, his 1st.  Francisco Liriano(4-1)
was charged with the loss.  Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 11 batters in
7 and 1/3 innings.

One run was the difference at Minute Maid Park as the BOSTON-NL RED SOX
defeated the WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS in 11 innings 3 to 2.
 
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  BOSTON-NL won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning.  Cliff Pennington laced a one-base hit.
Mark Trumbo followed next and he doubled.  After an out was recorded, Angel
Pagan came to the plate and drew a walk.  One out later, Aaron Bates got his
chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.  BOSTON-NL totaled
7 hits on the night.  
 
The victory went to Alfredo Aceves(1-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing
no runs. Aceves got relief help from Santiago Casilla who gained credit for
his 1st save.  Chris Jakubauskas(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.

Martinez enjoyed a big evening at the plate.  He doubled plating two runs in
the 1st inning, laced a base-hit in the 3rd inning, lined a one-base hit
bringing home two baserunners in the 5th inning, stroked a single in the 7th
inning and doubled in the 9th inning.  WISCONSIN was out-hit by SANTURCE, 17
hits to 8.  
 
The winning pitcher was James Shields(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 8 and 1/3
innings. Felix Hernandez(0-2) was charged with the loss.  He was hit hard and

Howard made sure the WISCONSIN fans enjoyed themselves.  He bombed a two-run
dinger in the 1st inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 3rd
inning.  Both teams finished the game with 10 hits.  
 
The win was credited to Francisco Liriano(2-0) who went 7 innings allowing no
runs. Scott Baker(0-1) was the loser.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 6

The RICHMOND FLYING SQUIRREL tallied 4 runs in the 4th inning and nipped the
WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 4 to 3 at Minute Maid Park in a hard fought
contest.
 
RICHMOND did all the necessary damage in the 4th inning when they tallied 4
runs on 4 hits.  The highlight belonged to Logan Morrison who deflated the
mood of the partisan fans when he clubbed a three-run home run.  WISCONSIN
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
C.J. Wilson(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Brian Wilson earned the save, his 1st.  Felix Hernandez(0-1)
absorbed the loss.  
 
Despite losing MIKE SWANSON was optimistic after the game.  'We'll get over
this one.  Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't.  Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'

hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Rivera who excited the crowd when
he launched a three-run homer.  RICHMOND tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.  
 
Francisco Liriano(1-0) allowed 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Luke Gregerson was credited with his 1st save.  Edinson Volquez(0-1)
absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 5 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings.
