The MEMPHIS REDBIRDS came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans.  The final score,, was 5 to
3.
 
MEMPHIS had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 3
hits.  Kelly Johnson led off the inning for MEMPHIS when he was hit by a
pitch.  Kevin Youkilis was next and he stroked a single.  After an out was
recorded, Nyjer Morgan came to bat and doubled.  Brett Myers then let one
slip out of his hand for a wild pitch.  After another out, Andy Parrino
stepped up to the plate and he ripped a one-base hit.  MEMPHIS had a total of
8 hits for the game.  
 
The victory was credited to Jerry Blevins(1-2) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Myers(0-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 3 runs in
1 inning and saw his ERA increase from 2.31 to 4.26.  
 
MIKE SWANSON was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss.  He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose.  Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us this afternoon'
