Jeff Niemann struck out 11 batters as the JACKSONVILLE SUNS bested the
WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 5 to 0 at Minute Maid Park.
Niemann(5-0) simply dominated WISCONSIN. He gave up just 6 hits and 1 walk in
9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.30. JACKSONVILLE banged out 8 hits on the
afternoon.
Jason Vargas(1-3) was the loser. Niemann, when asked about his 11 strikeout
performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we
lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we won it
feels great!'
